Records: Boy shot dead may have seen dad’s killing

PHOENIX (AP) — Newly released court records show a 6-year-old Phoenix boy found dead in an alley was fatally shot because he may have witnessed his father’s killing.

The body of 6-year-old Xavier Daniel Jaquez was found Dec. 14. That’s one day after the boy’s father, 27-year-old Angel Jaquez, was found dead in their south Phoenix home.

Angel Jaquez’s brother, 19-year-old Christopher Licon, faces two first-degree murder charges in the killings. It’s unclear if Licon has an attorney.

Documents released today show police believe Licon shot his brother in the head as Angel Jaquez watched television. No motive has been released, but police say Licon and Angel Jaquez had criminal histories involving drugs.

The records say Xavier either saw or heard his father’s killing, and that’s when Licon took him to a Burger King before shooting him in an alley.
