Police have released the name of a man killed in an accident as he crossed Glenwood Avenue just hours before the start of the new year.
According to police, Jesse Hopkins, 60, of Cleveland Street, was crossing the street at the intersection of Cleveland Street and Glenwood Avenue late Friday evening and was struck by a car driven by a 41-year-old South Side man. Hopkins later died from his injuries.
Detective Sgt. Patricia Garcar said police are still investigating the matter, and no charges have been filed against the driver.
Robbery probe

Police continue investigating a robbery that took place on a trail between Rosemont Avenue and Compass West over the weekend.
A 36-year-old man from Austintown told police that while he was on the path around 12:09 a.m. Saturday, three men who appeared to be in their 20s began assaulting him. According to reports, the man was pushed to the ground, and one of the assailants held his neck and reached in his pants pocket, stealing $180. The victim told police one of the other two men had “an unknown black object” pointed at him.
BB-gun shootings

Police still are searching for those responsible for shooting a BB gun at cars in the Southern Park Mall parking lot.
A 28-year-old Poland woman contacted police when she saw the rear window of her car shot out around 12:15 p.m. Saturday. Her car was located in the west parking lot of Macy’s department store. Police said they noticed four other damaged vehicles surrounding the woman’s car and several BBs on the pavement.
