Victim of fatal accident identified

YOUNGSTOWN

Police have released the name of a man killed in an accident as he crossed Glenwood Avenue mere hours before the start of the new year.

According to police, Jesse Hopkins, 60, of Cleveland Street, was crossing the street at the intersection of Cleveland Street and Glenwood Avenue, and was struck by a car driven by a 41-year-old South Side man. Hopkins later died from his injuries.

Det./Sgt. Patricia Garcar said police are still investigating the incident, and no charges have been filed against the driver.
