Police: Girl, 12, steals car, prompts pursuit

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Police in Harrisburg say a 12-year-old girl is facing charges after leading officers on a high-speed chase in a stolen car.

Investigators say the girl stole a car early Saturday morning in Newport, Perry County, then drove to Harrisburg. Police there pursued the car, which reached speeds of up to 80 mph while sometimes traveling the wrong way on a one-way street.

Police say the girl struck three light poles before they took her into custody.

No injuries were reported.
