HandsOn Volunteer Network of the Valley, a United Way Agency, is the local resource for volunteer recruitment, placement and management for people of all ages and abilities in the Mahoning Valley located at Youngstown State University, second floor of the Williamson School of Business in the Center for Non-profit Excellence and its main office, 5500 Market St., Suite 106, Boardman. Big Brothers & Big Sisters: Is looking for Big Brothers and Sisters! We ask that you sign up for a minimum of one year and that you see your little brother or sister at least two times a month. Meeting with a child even a few times a month will make a positive impact on his/her life.

Mahoning County Dog Warden and Trumbull County Dog Kennel: Bring some joy to a homeless animal! Dog walkers needed to exercise and socialize with dogs waiting for adoption. Needed are talented and engaged volunteers to assist in the planning and implementation of the awards celebration. Reading Buddies Wanted: We are seeking volunteers who want to be part of an innovative new tutoring program in the Youngstown city schools. Reading Buddies spend time one-on-one with students in first, second and third grades helping them improve reading and comprehension skills. Reading Buddies work flexible schedules during the school day at Kirkmere, Paul C. Bunn, McGuffey, Williamson or Taft Elementary schools. Goodwill Industries: Goodwill Amblyopia Screening Volunteers, working in teams, visit preschools to perform vision screening on 4- and 5-year-olds for ‘lazy eye’ and report any problems to the Amblyopia Program Coordinator.
The 110 Foundation: The 110 Foundation is looking for qualified board members to serve this nonprofit organization. The 110 Foundation is fiscally sponsored by The Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley. The organization is seeking a secretary, treasurer, member with community relations experience and a member with fund-raising experience. Time commitment is 24-36 hours per year.
