Icing can get you into some sticky situations. St. Christine's fourth-graders held up some of their icing-covered hands after they were done decorating.
Peter Haas used extreme care in placing every sprinkle on his sugar cookie just so.
Fourth-graders at St. Christine's Catholic School were happy to decorate nine dozen cookies with some creative flair. The cookies headed to the Dorothy Day House, where they will be served to the needy during a holiday meal.

Fourth-graders at St. Christine’s school iced and decorated nine dozen cookies Dec. 17 and shipped them off to the Dorothy Day House to be a sweet finish to a holiday meal for the needy.
The mix of fun and philanthropy was the idea of St. Christine’s teacher Karen Joseph, who donates her time at the Dorothy Day House once a week.
“We are donating these cookies to other families who might not be able to bake their own cookies this Christmas. That means you have to make them really, really great,” Joseph reminded her students as settled into their decorating stations.
The fourth-grade students of Joseph and Cynthia Ricci showed off their personalities with unique combinations of sprinkles and icing, but the group agreed that the preferred icing color was blue.
While the event was spirited, students like Hayley Spielvogel kept the bigger reason for the event in mind.
“My favorite part of decorating the cookies is knowing we’re giving them away. They’re going to a good place.”
