Fitch bowlers beat GlenOak
The Austintown Fitch boys bowling team defeated GlenOak 2,946-2,863 on Dec. 22.
Fitch’s Vince Viglio bowled a 258 and earned a 514 series, Kyle Condrick bowled a 236 and ended with a 421 series. DJ Learn bowled a 244 and finished with a 413 series.
GlenOak girls bowlers too much for Fitch
The Canton GlenOak girls bowling team defeated Fitch 2,722-2,692.
Fitch’s Delorean Jones bowled a 204 and a 234 for a 438 series. Katie Viglio bowled 224 and 168 (392), Vickie Berquist rolled a 231 (383), Marietta Gallo had 194 (354) and Daria Harris bowled a 191 (372).
AMS Red boys beat Boardman Center
The eighth-grade AMS Red boys team defeated Boardman Center 34-17 Monday to run its record to 4-1.
Brian Pressley led all scorers with 11 points, while Joe Harrington and Jake Bullen chipped in six a piece for the victors.
Curbstone Coaches announce speaker lineup
The Curbstone Coaches will meet all five Mondays in January, plus host its annual “All-league High School Football Banquet on a Sunday.
The group meets at noon the Blue Wolf Catering Center on Lockwood Blvd. in Boardman.
Joe Ethan, former YSU basketball player and current TV color WYTV/Fox for YSU basketball game replays, will serve as the speaker on Jan. 3. On Jan. 10, the speaker will be Joe DeRosa, retired NBA referee and now a 2010/2011 college basketball referee.
Former YSU and NFL kicker Paul McFadden will be the speaker on Jan. 17 and Major League Baseball umpire Wally Bell will be featured Jan. 24. The group will take a tour of the YSU athletic facilities Jan. 31 at 11:30 a.m.
On Jan 30, the group will host its annual “All league High School Football Banquet at 6:30 p.m. at the Georgetown. YSU head football coach Eric Wolford will be the featured speaker.
