Seniors enjoy holiday favorites

Neighbors | Shaiyla Hakeem.Paula Blakeman, Poland Shepherd of the Valley activity director, read the Christmas classic, "Twas' the Night Before Christmas" for residents Dec. 23. A total of three stories were shared during the storytime.
Residents at Shepherd of the Valley in Poland received a special treat Dec. 23 from activity director Paula Blakeman and assistant director Terri Eisenbraun.
They served hot cocoa to the senior citizens and read them three holiday stories, including “Twas the Night Before Christmas,” “Birth of Christ” and “Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus.”
The storytime was an optional activity for the residents and 10 attended. Blakeman said they host a holiday storytime annually, but book readings are done several times throughout the year.
They also give residents the opportunity to share their own stories with the group and bring in personal relics.
