Students at Lloyd Elementary crowded the doors of the school watching for a fire truck that was due to bring Santa for a visit.

Santa Claus, William Dick of Austintown, stopped by the school to spread holiday cheer. Each student was given the opportunity to sit on Santa’s lap and tell him what they wanted for Christmas.

Most students said they wished for a Nintendo DSI, Xbox 360 Kinect or an iPhone, but some wanted more simple gifts like a new wallet.

Last year was first-grader Kylie Smith’s first time seeing Santa in school. She enjoyed telling him her Christmas wishes, but she was happy with the reindeer bait she received when she was done.

“I’m going to make sure I put my reindeer food outside on Christmas eve,” Smith said.

The annual event has been a Lloyd Elementary tradition for more than 25 years and is sponsored by the school PTA.
