James Madison snaps Kent home streak

Rayshawn Goins had his fourth double-double of the season and James Madison used a second-half spurt to pull away from Kent State 60-51 on Friday.
Goins had 14 points and 13 rebounds for the Dukes (10-3), who snapped the Golden Flashes’ 15-game home winning streak — which included six victories this season. The streak started Jan. 20 and was tied for 10th longest in the country.
James Madison won its fourth straight game and fifth road game of the season.
Kent State (9-5) led 28-27 at halftime. Trailing 32-31, the Dukes used a 16-2 run, including seven points from Denzel Bowles, to lead 47-34 with 12:05 left.
Rodriguez Sherman led Kent State with 17 points and Justin Greene had a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Samford 55, Eastern Michigan 51
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.
Gregg Wooten scored 13 points as Samford again overcame a double-digit deficit to win.
The Bulldogs (9-5) trailed by 10 early in the second half before pulling even on a 14-4 run. It’s the fifth time this season that Samford has overcome a deficit of at least 10 points to win.
Free-throw shooting proved key. The Bulldogs made 12 of 13 attempts in the second half. Eastern Michigan was 3 for 3 from the line the whole game.
Jeffrey Merritt and Josh Davis each added 11 points for the Bulldogs.
The Eagles (2-10) got 19 points from Brandon Bowdry, but couldn’t overcome 21 turnovers, which led to 26 Samford points.
Ball State 80, North Carolina A&T 68
MUNCIE, Ind.
Jarrod Jones scored a career-high 25 points to pace Ball State
Jesse Berry added 15 points, Chris Bond had a career-best 13 and Tyrae Robinson contributed 10 for the Cardinals (7-4), who are 4-0 at home. Malik Perry just missed a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds. Jones added nine rebounds.
Northern Illinois 86, Utah Valley 76
DeKALB, Ill.
Xavier Silas scored 26 points and Northern Illinois rallied in the final minutes.
Silas made three 3-pointers and 11 of 12 free throws for the Huskies (4-7).
Western Michigan 69, Eastern Illinois 60
KALAMAZOO, Mich.
Juwan Howard Jr.’s double-double led Western Michigan.
Howard scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, both game highs. Flenard Whitfield added 19 points and nine rebounds for the Broncos (7-6), who hold a 4-1 series lead.
Mike Douglas added 11 points and nine assists.
