Happy birthday, babies
YOUNGSTOWN
The first new Mahoning Valley resident of 2011 arrived at 1:29 a.m. Saturday, weighing seven pounds and 12 ounces.
Randall Davis Jr. was born to Toinette Casey and Randall Davis, both of Youngstown, at the Childbirth Center at Northside Medical Center. Two sisters and a brother are waiting for him when he comes home, Casey said.
“We’re doing good,” she said, adding “I’m happy to have the first New Year’s baby.”
Across town at St. Elizabeth Health Center, Nicole Cervone of Youngstown delivered twins around 10:30 a.m. Saturday — four months earlier than they were expected.
“My water broke last Tuesday unexpectedly and we’ve been in the hospital ever since,” Cervone said. “Everything was going good until I had an abruption and started going into labor [Saturday] morning.”
Cervone and the twins’ father Lawrence Conzett, Jr. were pleased to report that their daughters are doing well.
“So far they haven’t had any problems yet, and we’re praying it stays that way,” Cervone said.
Even though the twins were born premature, Cervone was happy that her daughters, Isabella Marie and Elizabeth Conzett, will share a birthday with their cousin. Cervone’s sister, Shannon Prystash, delivered a baby boy around 8 a.m. Saturday at Northside Medical Center.
Asked if she wondered whether her daughters would be the area New Year’s babies, Cervone replied: “That was the farthest thing from my mind.”
