Public forum set for Meander plan

The Mahoning Valley Sanitary District, the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency and several organizations have scheduled a public forum on the Meander Creek Watershed Action Plan at 6:30 p.m. March 8 at the Ellsworth Township Administration Building, South Salem Warren Road.

The plan’s purpose is to improve and protect water in the watershed’s 86-square-mile area of Mahoning and Trumbull counties. Organizers say they hope for a turnout of the general public as well as community leaders to discuss environmental issues and possible solutions.

In addition to the environment, the plan would include such concerns as drinking-water protection, storm-water control and land-use management. The Watershed Action Plan is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
