The West Branch community continues to mourn the loss of a faculty member, who died this week from complications after childbirth.

Candice Boyle, 33, died Wednesday from complications developed after giving birth to a baby girl on Feb. 17 at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Superintendent Dr. Scott Weingart confirmed Friday.

Boyle had been at West Branch since 2007, where she taught Instructive Business Education, bookkeeping and computer technology, as well as serving as adviser for the morning announcements crew. She was also an adjunct instructor at Stark State University.

“Mrs. Boyle was an excellent role model for our students,” Weingart said. “She was very well thought of by students and staff.”

According to Weingart, the high-school guidance staff coordinated efforts to provide counseling and support to students and staff on Thursday and members of the West Branch Ministerial Association also were available to assist the grieving.

Boyle leaves behind her husband, Bryan, and a 5-year-old son, Grant, in addition to her baby daughter, Grace.

A graduate of Glen Oak High School in Canton, she earned her bachelor’s degree from Walsh University and her master’s degree from Malone University.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
