Helen Freed’s opens third location

Sharon, Pa.

Greg and Bonnie Balakoff, owners of Helen Freed’s, announce the opening of their third store on State Street in downtown Sharon.

Helen Freed’s has been a well-known retail name in the Shenango Valley for more than 50 years with the Balakoffs being third-generation owners of the business.

In addition to the bridal business, Helen Freed’s is one of the largest prom- and special-occasion dress retailers in the tri-state area. The third location, across from Reyers Shoe Store, will house the more than 5,000 gowns Helen Freed’s stocks during prom season.

Today marks the grand opening of the third store with special deals and live entertainment.

Cortland Bancorp announces earnings

CORTLAND

Cortland Bancorp on Friday announced its fourth-quarter and year-end results for the period ending Dec. 31.

The company reported net income of $1.036 million or 23 cents per share for the quarter ending Dec. 31. This compares to a net income of $17,000 for the quarter ending Sept. 30, and net income of $643,000 or 14 cents per share for the same period in 2009.

For the year, the company reported net income of $3.271 million compared to a net loss of $6.335 million for the year that ended Dec. 31, 2009.
