Business women’s group awards scholarship

The Youngstown Charter Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association presented Katelyn Gould with the 2011 ABWA scholarship check at its Feb. 15 meeting at Rusty’s Restaurant.

Gould, who attended the meeting with her mother, Mary Gould, spoke to the group about her plans to continue her education in pursuit of her goal of eventually teaching art at the college level. She also presented each member with a handwritten note of thanks.

She is an honor student at Youngstown State University and is seeking a BFA in Art.

The Youngstown Charter Chapter of ABWA was founded in 1954. Over the past 50 years, this chapter, along with its sister chapters in the tri-county area, has raised and donated over $500,000 to deserving local college students.

The ABWA Council Annual Fall Fashion Show helps fund the scholarship monies for several ABWA chapters. The event is scheduled for Sept. 25 at Mr. Anthony’s. For information, contact Mary Ann Rushton at 330-758-1739.
