Pa. teacher fired for having sex in her classroom

MCKEESPORT, Pa. (AP) — A Pittsburgh-area teacher suspended since 2006 on immorality charges has been fired for having sex in a classroom with the former president of the teachers’ union.

The McKeesport Area School Board voted Wednesday to fire 55-year-old Angela DiBattista, who taught at Cornell Intermediate School until she was suspended.

DiBattista requested a public dismissal hearing which occurred in several sessions last year and during which her attorney acknowledged she had an affair with fellow teacher Patrick Collins until 2004, after which she accused him of harassing her.

Collins was fired before he was absolved of those charges and rehired in 2005. He then retired in 2006.

Collins testified during DiBattista’s hearing that they had sex in classrooms on several occasions, but never when students were present.
