Coroner identifies fatal western Pa. fire victim

FORD CITY, Pa. (AP) — A coroner has released the name of a woman killed in a house fire in western Pennsylvania, but the name of a man injured when he was trapped inside the home has not been released.

The Armstrong County coroner says 46-year-old Jennifer Torney was killed in the fire Thursday evening in Ford City. A man described only as Torney’s life partner by authorities has been taken to UPMC Mercy hospital in Pittsburgh, which is well-known for its burn unit. Officials say the man was trapped and had to be pulled from the home by emergency crews.

The coroner says Torney died of carbon monoxide poisoning. Her body was found in a bedroom where the fire started.

A state police fire marshal is investigating the fire 35 miles northeast of Pittsburgh, but says foul play isn’t suspected.
