YSU plans to offer master's in respiratory care

YOUNGSTOWN — If it’s approved by the Ohio Board of Regents, Youngstown State University will offer a master of respiratory-care degree by fall 2012.

The academic and student affairs committee of the YSU trustees approved the new degree at a meeting today.

Joseph Mosca, dean of the Bitonte College of Health and Human Services, said data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates a 20 percent growth in the field over the next 10 years.

There are no graduate programs in respiratory care in Ohio or any neighboring states, Mosca said.
