Police: Ohio couple found shot to death in car

JEFFERSON, Ohio (AP) — Authorities in Ohio’s northeast corner say a man and woman fatally shot in the back of the head inside a car still had their seat belts on with the motor and heater running.

The Ashtabula County sheriff’s office said today there have been no arrests in last weekend’s slaying of 23-year Cord Cox of Austinburg and 25-year-old Betheny Mehall of Geneva.

No motive has been determined.

Coroner’s investigator Rich Mongell says each died of a single head wound Saturday night. Their bodies were found Sunday when a motorist called authorities.

The bodies were in the front seats of the vehicle, left at the end of a road in rural Harpersfield Township located between Cleveland and Erie, Pa.

Mehall’s funeral will be Friday and Cox’s, Saturday.
