YOUNGSTOWN

The Austintown man jailed for aiding his son in the beating of another boy could be in trouble again.

Charles Etto, 40, was in Judge R. Scott Krichbaum’s court Wednesday for a probable-cause hearing after failing to report immediately back to the Mahoning County jail upon the cancellation of a mandatory doctor’s appointment.

Etto was sentenced Feb. 8 to 60 days in jail and five years’ probation for handing his son Derek Etto, 16, the bat used to beat another teen in September 2010.

He pleaded guilty in December to a felony charge of complicity to commit aggravated assault and a probation violation from previous drug-trafficking and child-endangering charges.

Judge Krichbaum of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court granted Etto’s motion for furlough so that he could attend a mandatory medical exam Feb. 17 through the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation.
