Pa. widens search function on Megan's Law website
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — The Pennsylvania State Police says the searchable database of registered sex offenders is now more user-friendly for people who want to focus on a geographic area.
The agency said today it had revamped the Megan’s Law website so people can look for offenders who live or attend school within a radius of between a half-mile and five miles of a given location.
That makes it easier for someone to search, for example, for the registered sex offenders who live near their home or near a school.
The upgrade also includes a feature that suggests similar sounding names in response to queries about a particular name, and more photos of offenders.
