Food pantry to participate in challenge

Youngstown/Mahoning District Council of the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry will participate in Alan Shawn Feinstein’s 14th annual $1 million giveaway to fight hunger.

Donations received during March and April as a result of the Feinstein challenge will be submitted. Feinstein will award agencies between $250 and $40,000, and the awards are proportionate to the amount that each agency receives.

Donations can include cash, checks and food items (valued at $1 per item or pound). Last year, the St. Vincent de Paul Society provided food to more than 9,000 people in Mahoning County. Feinstein’s past 13 annual $1 million challenges to fight hunger have raised a record $1 billion for more than 2,000 agencies nationwide.
