Argus Lodge 545, Free & Accepted Masons, installed Richard Percic of Lisbon as master of the lodge, where he will preside for the year.

The title of master instead of president reflects the Masonic tradition of using ceremonies and titles from the stonemasons of the Middle Ages. When the great cathedrals of Europe were being built, the Mason in charge of a building site was referred to as a “master of the work.”

Percic was born in Youngstown in 1970 and grew up in Columbiana County, where he resides with his wife, Melissa. He graduated from United Local High School in Hanoverton and achieved a bachelor’s degree from Muskingum College.

He joined Argus Lodge 545 in May of 1993 and has been serving as an officer since 2008.

Percic is a licensed, certified athletic trainer for Aultman Health Foundation.

The new master of the lodge is a 32nd-degree member of the Valley of Youngstown, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite and the Youngstown Shrine.

He is a third-generation Mason at Argus Lodge, following his grandfather Frank Percic and father, Richard A. Percic.

Percic’s interests outside the lodge include restoring classic cars, playing rugby, cooking and target shooting.
