The students of Watson Elementary recently found a wealth of talented dancers in their midst during their “So You Think You Can Dance” Competition on Jan. 28.

The competition was organized by gym teacher TJ Parker, and the performances were choreographed by the student dancers. The dances were judged by principal Shelia Palombo and custodian Ray Gordon, and all competitors won a first, second, or third-place ribbon.

Palombo appreciated her students having so much fun.

“Our competition was planned to be a really fun event where the kids can just let loose and enjoy themselves. Of course, our gym teacher TJ Parker loves that it gets the kids moving and working out as well.”

The morning of competition included many dances to songs of student-favorite artists like Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber, and many students showed off choreography and tumbling skills in their dances.

The Fitch Dance Line visited the competition and danced a few numbers to give the Watson students some rest.

Cafeteria manager Victoria Baker watched the show when she could take a moment from cooking lunch.

“I can’t believe these dances are made up by the students — they’re great. There’s a lot of talent here at Watson.”
