Love was definitely in the air at Poland Union Preschool on Feb. 10, as the school celebrated Valentine’s Day with treats and lessons about love.

The celebrations were different in Joy Bucci and Janice Brant’s classrooms, as the students each found unique ways to show that they cared for each another.

Preparations for Brant’s Valentine’s party included a craft time where the students made large envelopes, laced the sides together, and decorated the envelopes with hearts and X-O-X-O stamps.

Brant’s class also read Valentine’s stories, sang songs and created puzzles as gifts for parents.

“We try to teach the kids that Valentine’s Day is a day of being nice and respecting each other,” said Brant.

Bucci tried to teach a similar message to her preschool class.

“Our class discussed love and what love feels like, but also insisted that love should include respect, sharing and being nice to one another,” she explained.

Bucci’s class gave each other valentines in pizza boxes decorated with hearts and celebrated with red and pink treats.
