$1M bond set for man charged with threatening father
LISBON
A $1 million bond has been set for Jesse Ieropoli, who is charged with a misdemeanor count of aggravated menacing toward his father, Nick.
Columbiana County Prosecutor Robert Herron said Friday that the case will be tried quickly since Ieropoli. 20, is being held in the county jail.
In most criminal cases, defendants waive their right to a speedy trial. Without the waiver, the trial has to take place within 30 days.
The prosecutor said that Columbiana County Municipal Court Judge Mark Frost will set the trial date at the next hearing, set for 1 p.m. Thursday.
Herron said that Ieropoli recently had said “that he would kill his father and then himself.”
Herron said that Ieropoli now has said he accidently shot his mother, Sherry, on Aug. 28, 2008, at the family home at 10984 state Route 45. Two shots were fired from a .22-caliber rifle.
Investigators initially did not think that a crime had been committed.
The Columbiana County Coroner’s Office ruled that the death was a homicide but left it up to other investigators to determine what kind of homicide.
The father and son were in the house at the time of the shooting.
Herron said he could say little because of the ongoing investigation.
