POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Feb. 8

Harassment: A North Lima Road woman said an acquaintance has been making such calls.

Feb. 9

Attempted burglary: Someone tried to break into a residence in the 2800 block of Algonquin Trail through a rear door.

Feb. 11

Identity theft: A Woodland Drive man found a $100 unauthorized charge placed on his debit/credit account.

Feb. 12

Arrest: Police investigated a traffic accident in the 3100 block of Spitler Road, then charged 18-year-old Stephen N. Sofocleous II, 7915 Meadowbrooke Trail, Poland, with operating a vehicle impaired. He was released on a summons.

BOARDMAN

Feb. 12

Theft/drug paraphernalia: Terrance M. Chatman, 40, of 1393 Kenneth St., Youngstown, faces two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and one of theft after two cartons of cigarettes were stolen from Country Fair Food Store, 7465 South Ave. A suspected crack pipe and a spoon with possible drug residue were found, police said.

Arrests: Authorities took 20-year-old Lisa C. Andrews, 11140 Main St., New Middletown, and Edward C. Wheeler, 23, same address, into custody at a Market Street motel. Both were wanted on charges of theft and child endangering.

Theft: Jason L. Womack, 25, of 1425 Forestview Drive, Youngstown, faces two theft charges after six books were stolen from Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 381 Boardman-Poland Road. He also was accused of taking cologne and other items from Bath & Body Works, 379 Boardman-Poland.

Theft: Police charged 22-year-old Anthony P. Casanas, 2403 South Ave., Youngstown, with stealing a $30 solar battery charger from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Theft: Roughly $880 worth of DVDs and video games was stolen from Walmart, resulting in charges against 25-year-old John C. Sigley, 256 E. Park Ave., Niles, and Anthony E. Deblase, 37, of 331 Lincoln St., Sharon, Pa.

Assault: Police responded to a fight in the 4800 block of Brookwood Drive, where four people reported various injuries. No arrests were made, though.

Harassment: A Kentwood Drive man said his former girlfriend has sent a series of unwanted text messages.

Theft: Someone rented but failed to return $1,105 worth of equipment to Home Depot, 7001 Southern Blvd.

Theft: A woman at a Hillman Way business discovered two unauthorized withdrawals totaling $1,419 had been made to her income-tax credit card.

Criminal damaging: Someone used a key to damage the finish on both sides of a vehicle in the 7600 block of South Avenue and cause $475 in damage.

Theft: A student at Boardman High School, 7777 Glenwood Ave., reported his gym bag missing from a locker.

Identity theft: A Liesken Lane woman found out her credit/debit card had been used on the Internet to make an unauthorized $309 purchase.

Feb. 13

Theft: A Niles boy, 17, was accused in the theft of a $70 wireless charger from Best Buy, 561 Boardman-Poland Road.

Harassment: A Meadowbrook Avenue woman reported getting several harassing and vulgar text messages.

Theft: Debra A. Kutsch, 46, of 25 N. Bon Air Ave., Youngstown, was charged with stealing eight tools from Home Depot.

Burglary: To a residence in the 5600 block of Erie Street through a basement window.

Assaults: A man near a South Avenue eatery reported a woman punched his head and face. The woman said he had grabbed her wrists during the fight.

Domestic violence: Michelle Davis, 42, was arrested at her home, 368 Mathews Road, Boardman, and charged with the crime after Davis’ boyfriend alleged she had punched him twice in the face during an argument.

Arrest: A city boy, 15, was taken into custody at Southern Park Mall on a pickup order from the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center, Youngstown, accusing him of failure to comply with a court order.

Harassment: An Arlene Avenue man told police he’s received several harassing and threatening calls and text messages.

Assault: An Aravesta Avenue woman told officers a neighbor struck her left eye during a fight.

Arrest: Police picked up DeJeanine M. Brockman near her residence, 44 Centervale Ave., Boardman, on warrants charging her with tampering with records and falsification. Brockman provided a township school with a fraudulent rental-lease agreement indicating she was renting an Erskine Avenue home, yet the owner said she never resided there, a report said.

Feb. 14

Arrest/drugs: Police on East Western Reserve Road arrested 20-year-old Nicholas E. Snyder, 718 Sanderson Ave., Campbell, on a probation-violation charge. Snyder also was cited when, officers said, suspected pieces of marijuana were found.

Identity fraud: A Boardman-Canfield Road woman discovered her personal information had been compromised when she received notices stating she would be billed for purchases she never made.

Breaking and entering: About $1,390 worth of tools was stolen from a garage someone had entered in the 7400 block of Sierra Madre Trail.

Theft: More than $500 was removed from a car in the 6000 block of South Avenue.

Auto theft: A 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe was stolen in the 900 block of Larkridge Avenue.

Theft/criminal damaging: Someone broke a car window in the 800 block of Edenridge Drive, then took $3.

Auto theft: A 2004 Oldsmobile Alero was stolen in the 2000 block of Country Club Avenue.

Auto theft: A woman reported the theft of her mother’s 1996 Cutlass Supreme in the 300 block of Ewing Road.

Theft: A man reported his wallet stolen at a Boardman-Canfield Road store.

Misuse of a credit card: A Scotland Avenue man discovered $438 worth of unauthorized charges to his credit card.

Damage: Two vehicles in the 800 block of Forestridge Drive were broken into and ransacked, though it appeared nothing was taken.

Feb. 15

Aggravated menacing: A Shadyside Drive girl reported a caller threatened to shoot her in the head.

Theft: A Red Tail Hawk Drive man reported the theft of mail.

Arrest: Authorities arrested 45-year-old James I. Salter Jr. during a traffic stop on Market Street. Salter, of 3355 McGuffey Road, Youngstown, was wanted on warrants charging him with a probation violation and child neglect; he also faced one count of obstructing official business when, police said, he gave a false name.

Theft: A $270 MP3 player was stolen at a business in the 1300 block of Boardman-Canfield Road.

Breaking and entering: Someone broke into a home in the 1800 block of Brandon Road and removed copper piping.

Assault: A Lemans Drive woman alleged a neighbor had slapped her mouth, causing a sore lip.

Theft: A 14-year-old Campbell boy was accused of taking a set of hose clamps and another item from Walmart.

Robbery: A woman told police a man in his 20s jumped into her vehicle near Market Street and Clifton Drive, then stole $50 from her purse and fled on foot.

Identity fraud: A Golfview Avenue man learned someone had used his credit-card number to make $314.57 worth of charges without permission.

Arrest: A traffic stop on Market Street resulted in the arrest of 46-year-old Lamont Blair, 44 W. Auburndale Ave., Youngstown. He was accused of failing to appear in court.

Arrest: Police pulled over a vehicle on East Midlothian Boulevard and took into custody BritanyQ. West, 20, of 947 Winona Ave., Youngstown, on a warrant charging her with menacing.

Feb. 16

Burglary: Took place in the 5000 block of Simon Road via a rear door. A purse, money and other property were stolen from two vehicles.
