ALLIANCES
Ohio Cultural Alliance will meet at 6 p.m. March 7 at the Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road, Austintown. Professor Roman Rudnytsky of the Youngstown State University Dana School of Music will discuss and perform works of Beethoven as the cultural enrichment. The cost for a catered meal is $15 for paid-up members and $20 for nonmembers. Members are asked to take a nonperishable food item for Heart Reach, this month’s community project. Youngstown South Christian Women’s Club will have a “Can’t Wait ’til Spring” luncheon from noon to 2 p.m. March 10 at Avion on the Water Banquet Center in Canfield. Featured will be The Hour Spa-Monkey Biz by Janeen Nicols, music by Sarah Turner, and a talk by Meryl Bishop, Stonecroft National representative. The cost is $13. Western Reserve Knitting Guild is having a brioche stitch workshop taught by Kay Thompson from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Fair Park in Canfield. Those attending should take two contrasting colors of worsted-weight knitting yard, size 7 or 8 needles and a cable needle. There is no cost to guild members.

Parents Without Partners Portage County Chapter 600 will have its monthly dance from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. March 5 at the Kent V.F.W. 3703 Post, 500 VFW Parkway (off Stow Road) in Kent. The monthly dances are open to the public, and nonmembers are invited to join the PWP members in celebrating the “Wearing of the Green” dance theme. As part of the refreshments, Mulligan Stew will be served.
