Bucket company asks council for more electricity

COLUMBIANA

Mark Brothers of Century Container Corp., 32 W. Railroad St., wants more electricity.

Brothers explained to city council Tuesday that his company makes buckets ranging from one gallon to six gallons.

In order to keep making his products, he said he needs electric power.

Brothers said that his company needs electricity but the city’s north substation doesn’t provide all the power that his plant needs.

The company moved to the city in 1977 and has since expanded. He said that his company runs “nonstop.” In cases of power problems, he asked if, “I can be notified of any problems? It’s really critical to our business.”

When power goes down during the manufacturing process, he said, pieces of plastic going through the process have to be removed.

The businessman commented that if he had to install a backup generator, “I don’t know [how big] of generator it would take to make it work.”
