The sixth annual “Celebration of Scouting” breakfast will be sponsored by Whispering Pines District, Greater Western Reserve Council of Boy Scouts of America, at 7:15 a.m. March 8 at the Holiday Inn in Boardman.

The 2011 Golden Eagle honored guests at the event will be retired Lt. Col. William Moss and George Grim. Speakers will include Joseph Belgrade and Taylor Marconi, who have recently attained the rank of Eagle Scout.

Previous Golden Eagle recipients were Dan Rivers, Helen Stambaugh, Clarence Smith, Judge Theresa Dellick and John Wolboldt.

The goal for this year’s breakfast is to raise $59,000 to benefit the local district. Area businesses and community leaders are asked to request a copy of the sponsorship levels and to support the much-needed funding for the local Scouting program.

Last year a record was set in attendance and dollars pledged when Friends of Scouting met to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Scouting and to honor distinguished Scouts and community members.

For information on supporting the event or on attending the breakfast, contact a member of the steering committee or Sarah Marino, district executive, at 330-774-5160, or by e-mail at s.marino@bsa-gwrc,org by March 1.
