Ray Whitney had a goal and an assist, and the Phoenix Coyotes frustrated Washington’s top line with a flurry of blocked shots. Ilya Bryzgalov had 29 saves, Martin Hanzal and Vernon Fiddler each scored and the Coyotes blocked a season-high 20 shots to win their fifth straight game and move atop the Pacific Division.

Andy McDonald and Patrik Berglund scored power-play goals to lead the St. Louis Blues. Alex Steen also scored for St. Louis, which won for the third time in the last 10 games.
