Weathersfield trustees seek to retain Mineral Ridge post office
MINERAL RIDGE
Weathersfield Township trustees will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday to approve a resolution asking state and local elected officials help retain the Mineral Ridge post office.
Trustee James Stoddard said he has received a letter, also posted at the post office, saying that the post office and its current landlord on state Route 46 have not been able to come to an agreement on a new lease.
As an emergency measure, the post office plans to relocate to the Niles Post Office, 43 W. Park Ave. The Niles post office is three miles away from the current location. All P.O. boxes will be relocated. The post office says it is looking for an alternative location in the township.
Stoddard noted that negotiations by the post office are done out of its Greensboro, N.C., office.
