Sloans receive surprise for their 60th anniversary
AUSTINTOWN
The family of Mr. and Mrs. William A. Sloan Jr. surprised them for their 60th wedding anniversary when they all gathered at the 11 a.m. service at Grace Lutheran Church, then treated them to a family dinner at the Saxon Club and cake at the couple’s home.
Hosting the festivities were their children, William III (Barbara) Sloan, Shirley Sloan, and Ted (Faye) Sloan. All live in Austintown.
The family includes six grandchildren: Bill (Kristin) Sloan of North Jackson; Rebecca (Thomas) Alexander of Greenwood, Ind.; Teddi (Ryan) Reese and Kari Sloan, of Canfield; and Sheila (Michael) Kapics and Lisa (David) George, all of Youngstown. The family also has nine great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Sloan, a homemaker, is a member of the Red Hat Society.
Mr. Sloan has owned S&S Elevator Co. of Youngstown since 1967. Their sons and a grandson are employed there with their grandfather. Mr. Sloan served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
Mr. Sloan and the former Emilia F. Cua were married Feb. 3, 1951, at St. Lucy Catholic Church, Campbell. They are members at Grace Lutheran.
