SENIOR CITIZENS | Meetings, activities announced


55-Plus Club of Mineral Ridge will meet at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Church. Cards will be played and members will dine out.

60-Plus Club of St. Brendan Church will meet at 1:15 p.m. Monday. Dues of $5 will be collected, and officers will be elected. Cards and bingo will follow the meeting.

AARP Chapter 4339 has canceled its board meeting for this month. Meetings will resume March 8. Details will be in senior news of March 6.

AARP Chapter 4611 will have its executive board meeting at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Augustine Church on Parmelee Ave. The nominating committee will give a report. In observance of Black History Month, June Ewing, a nutrition-educational volunteer, will speak at noon. Her topic will be “Relating the African Diet to Today’s Diet.” There will be a 50-50 raffle, and refreshments will be served. To report an illness or death, call 330-746-0889. Campbell Memorial High School January and June Classes of 1947 will meet for breakfast at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Denny’s in Boardman. All class members and spouses are welcome.

Girard Senior Citizens Club will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the center, 16 N. State St. February birthdays and anniversaries will be observed, and 2011 membership dues will be collected. Bingo will follow the meeting.

Happy Wanderers will have a speaker when they meet Friday, Melissa Ames of the Better Business Bureau. Social hour will begin at around 11 a.m. and the meeting will officially begin at noon. Take a sack lunch, and those whose names begin with A-L are asked to take cookies. Serving as hospitality will be Bill and Alice Jugenheimer, Helen Collins and Charlotte Bottar. Liberty 55-Plus Club will have an annual Valentine’s Day meeting at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at First Christian Assembly Church, Cardinal Drive, Liberty. Kay Herberger will preside, and Louise Leone and Rosie Sferra will serve as hostesses. There will be a 50-50 raffle, and February birthdays will be acknowledged.

Local 2243 U.S.W.A. Copperweld Steel (S.O.A.R. Chapter 1-28-10) will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday at Local 1375 Union Hall, 684 N. Park Ave., Warren. The guest speaker will be Jim Graham, candidate for Mayor of Warren.

Martha Lupse 50-Plus Card and Game Club will meet from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Room 106 at Poland United Methodist Church. Bridge, 500, chess and checkers will be played, and Mary Murar will give the devotions. Members are reminded to take a sack lunch; coffee and tea will be provided. St. Christine Seniors will meet for a luncheon at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the parish center with Ruth Infante presiding. Hostesses will be Dorothy LoSasso, Ann Lessick and John Zitello. Reports will be presented by Mary Jo Theis and Carol McClain. Dues for 2011 will be collected. February birthdays will be observed, and there will be a 50-50 raffle, cards and bingo.
