Ohio River explored in ‘Always a River’
BLOOMINGTON, IND.
“Always a River, The Ohio River and the American Experience,” edited by Robert L. Reid, contains essays that reflect the relationship between the Ohio River basin and the people who live on the river banks.
The seven authors, who contributed essays featured in the book, reaffirm the continuing significance of the Ohio River basin while viewing it through the perspective of history, geography, political science, economics and literature.
They chronicle the settlement period of the river, its economic importance, the different phases of engineering over a long period of time and the river as an eco-political system.
This revised edition includes a new introduction with a historical overview, an up-to-date map and an index.

Emotional story is shared by author
CANFIELD
The emotional story of her battle with chronic Lyme disease is told by Janet L. DeCesare of Mineral Ridge in her stirring memoir, “Ticked Off.”
In her book, the author creates a vivid word picture of her life as a hardworking woman who “felt like superwoman” to one whose health deteriorated as she suffered from Lyme disease for 12 years.
DeCesare points out that the tick-born virus forever changes lives for the worse and is a virtual death sentence for many.
Yet, while thousands are infected each year with Lyme disease, she says the misdiagnosis and lack of knowledge in the mainstream medical community is shocking.
Her memoir wades through the confusion and exposes the truth about the symptoms, effects and cures.
It also offers hope for those affected as the author searches for answers to her own declining health.
DeCesare will sign copies of her book at 6 p.m. Thursday at Casal’s De Spa and Salon, 4030 Boardman-Canfield Road.
