Former Pittsburgh Mayor Sophie Masloff has been admitted to the hospital for pneumonia, but her attorney says he expects she will recover.
Attorney Frederick Frank tells the Post-Gazette that the 93-year-old Masloff had not been feeling well for several days. He says she called 911 Friday night after deciding she needed to go to the hospital.
Frank says Masloff, the city’s first Jewish and first female mayor, was admitted to UPMC Shadyside around 10:30 p.m. Friday. He says she’s being treated with antibiotics. He expects she will be released in a few days.
Masloff was the mayor of Pittsburgh from 1984 to 1988.
