Water break
Water break
LISBON
Dispatcher Ray Harr of the Lisbon Police Department said the village was without water Friday night.
The first call from a village resident came in at 9:28 p.m. Friday. Harr said both police and the fire department had been searching for the water break, which was found around 10:17 p.m.
The break, he said, had drained all the water from the village’s two water towers.
Harr said the break could have resulted from the ground beginning to thaw. Tampering charge
BOARDMAN
Police arrested a woman who is accused of falsifying records to send her children to Boardman schools. DeJeanine M. Brockman, 31, was apprehended after police searched her Centervale Avenue residence Friday and charged her with tampering with records and falsification.
“Those charges are related to her providing false documents earlier in the school year [when she lived elsewhere] for enrollment papers,” said Sgt. Chuck Hillman, Boardman’s student-resource officer.
Brockman has six children, five of whom are school-aged and attend Boardman schools, Hillman said, noting that Centervale Avenue is in the township. The children “are still attending school at this point, and we do believe that they’re residing [in Boardman] now,” he said.

Police Chief Martin Kanetsky, who was on paid administrative leave, has been on paid medical leave since Feb. 3. That status was confirmed by Jeff Adler, city law director.
Mayor Rich Keenan placed the police chief on paid administrative leave Jan. 6, pending an investigation of “various charges including but not limited to insubordination, misuse of city facilities and/or property of the city of Hubbard and jeopardizing the health of the entire police department and facilities.”
The mayor has said “no comment” to questions about why he put the chief on leave, who is conducting the investigation and how long it would take.
Car-crash suspect turns himself in
Neshannock, Pa.
A New Castle man turned himself in to Neshannock Township police on multiple charges stemming from a 2009 car crash possibly related to the death of an unborn child.
Dayna Griffin was arraigned Thursday and released on a $50,000 unsecured bond. He faces charges of homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence and driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.
Lt. John Rand of Neshannock Township police said that Griffin was the driver in a one-car crash on Graceland Road on Oct. 21, 2009. His passenger was pregnant. “The woman was hospitalized for a long time, and doctors performed an emergency [cesarean] section. The baby was pronounced dead, and the death’s believed to be caused by injuries from the crash,” Rand said.
