Looking ahead to next fall, Ursuline Preschool and Kindergarten held its annual open house and registration event for future 3- to 6-year-old students Feb. 6.

The occasion gave families a chance to see the many options available at the school for preschool and kindergarten children. Tours of the building showcased the bright classrooms, featuring in-room rest rooms, private observation areas, a large indoor play area and library, an outdoor playground, computer lab, clinic, music room and high attention to security measures.

Teachers were in their classrooms during the open house and were available to speak with interested families and students to answer questions about the school.

According to Sister Charlotte Italiano, director/principal, the teachers were also going over the school’s curriculum, what the children do during the day in the classrooms and the school’s Enrichment Program, which is designed to enhance the preschool program.

The Enrichment Program provides additional learning experiences including music, art, science, computers, cooking, gardening, creative play, an introduction to a foreign language and more.

Preschool classes vary from 2 Ω hours two days a week for 3-year-olds, and three days a week for 4-year-olds. Preschool classes can be expanded to full day enrichment programs for 3- and 4-year-olds for families seeking a full day experience with an educational side.

Transitional kindergarten offers the opportunity to expand the skills of 5-year-olds preparing for kindergarten. The full-day kindergarten program offers class from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and prepares children for their elementary school days ahead. Children of this level engage in music, computer and yoga classes in addition to the kindergarten curriculum set forth by the State of Ohio.
