The Rev. George Blasko will be the celebrant of a polka Mass at 4 p.m. Feb. 20 at St. Patrick Church, 357 N. Main St.
Dinner and dancing to the music of the Al Modany Band in the church hall will follow the Mass.
Cost for dinner tickets is $12 a person or $20 a couple. Tickets are available from the church office at 225 N. Main St. or from any stewardship or Pastoral Council member. Reservations may be made by calling 330-534-1928. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door.
Bible distribution

The City Prayer Team of Youngstown is endeavoring to place a copy of the Bible in every home in the city of Youngstown. The team also will offer residents an opportunity to have someone assist them in their study of the Bible.
Help is needed by buying Bibles for distribution. The cost is $2.10 per Bible and the goal is 1,000 Bibles.

Chapter meeting

The Youngstown Chapter of Igniting New Life Ministries International, an inter-denominational ministry, will meet Feb. 21 at Georgeanna Parker Activity Center in Boardman Park. Fellowship will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the ministry at 7.
Guest speaker will be Chuck Dorsey, local director of the Youngstown chapter of Exodus International Ministry. Exodus International is a ministry committed to encouraging, educating, and equipping the Christians to address the issue of homosexuality.
Marriage prep

Harp program

Kirk Kupensky, music director, will present a “Meditation with Harp” at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Unity Centre for Spiritual Living, 1226 Naylor Lloyd Road.
The theme is “love” and Kupensky will use readings and music from both the Celtic and concert harps.
The performance is free and open to the public, but donations will be accepted.
First Friday Club

Philip St. Romaine, spiritual director and retreat leader of Catholic Retreat Centers in Kansas, will be guest speaker at the First Friday Club of Greater Youngstown meeting March 3 at Antone’s Banquet Centre on Market Street.
St. Romaine is an author of books on personal growth and spirituality. He will speak on the topic “A Catholic Response to Fundamentalism.”

The gospel choir of Phillips Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, 718 Albert St., will sponsor a pre-Valentine’s Day musical, “Falling in Love with Jesus,” at 4 p.m. Sunday. Choirs, soloists, groups and dancers will perform.

Brenda Herron, wife of Bishop Designate David L. Herron Sr., will be honored during a program at 4 p.m. Feb. 20 at Monument of Faith Church of God in Christ, 2165 Highland Ave.
Special musical guest will be minister Kent Barnes of Calvary Ministries. Other guests include missionaries Thelma Honeywood and Jerri Black, Demetria Carson, Linda Capers, Peggy Stringer, Beverly Sparks, Betty Howard of St. James Church of God In Christ, Linda Herron of Holy Temple, Church of God in Christ, and Monument of Faith flag ministry, praise dancers and concert choir.

Pastor retiring

Harvest Point Church, 6100 Tod Ave., Unit 4, in the Lordstown Plaza, Warren, will host an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. Feb. 20 to honor Pastor Susan Tatarka as she retires from the ministry.
Pastor Tatarka was ordained Sept. 25, 2003, in Springfield, Ohio, and is a minister of the Church of God in Anderson, Ind. She has served as administrator and as associate pastor at the Church of God in Newton Falls, and as Women’s Ministry and worship leader at Harvest Point Church. She also has served on the Women in Ministry Task Force for Congregational Ministries, Anderson, and the Northeast Ohio Executive Council as secretary.

Boy Scout event

Members of Boy Scout Troop 25, their families and the congregation of Canfield United Methodist Church, 27 S. Broad St., will recognize the 101st anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America during a service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
Don Christensen is senior pastor at the church and he is an Eagle Scout. Speaker will be the Rev. Dan Wolboldt, a 1957 Eagle Scout of Troop 25 and a retired U.S. Army chaplain. Troop 25 has had more than 160 young men earn Scouting’s highest honor. The troop was established in 1926 at the church. Before the service, the troop will serve a pancake breakfast from 7:30 to 10 a.m. in fellowship hall.

Ancient rituals of the Eastern Orthodox Church will be the topic during a discussion at 6 p.m. Thursday at St. Michael Orthodox Church, 127 Steel St., Youngstown, where the Rev. Andrew Gromm is pastor. The focus will be understanding the meaning of Orthodox liturgy, its prayers and rituals.
