PERRY

Perry police had a multiple car crash at 12:14 p.m. Saturday in the 2200 block of North Lincoln Avenue.

Matthew J. Woolford, 19, of Poland, was driving south and swerved to avoid a northbound vehicle that was left of the center line. Woolford’s car became stuck in a large snowdrift that was covering part of the southbound lane.

Donald L. Hoover II, 48, of Salem, was driving south and rear-ended Woolford’s vehicle, damaging both vehicles.

Woolford then pulled into a driveway. Another southbound vehicle then swerved and went off the right side of the road to avoid hitting Woolford’s vehicle. That car was not damaged.

Then, a southbound sports car driven by Lonnie E. Gilbert, 19, of Salem, hit Woolford’s car, disabling both vehicles.

Just south of the accident scene, another vehicle traveled off the roadway into a ditch, but was not damaged, and was towed off the road

Two passengers with Woolford were taken by ambulance to Salem Community Hospital with minor injuries.

The township fire department shut the road from the four-lane U.S. Route 62 to the two-lane Pine Lake Road until the Ohio Department of Transportation plowed the snow.
