Canfield swimmers beat GlenOak, Massillon


The Canfield High School girls and boys swim teams won at a tri-meet Feb. 4 at Youngstown State University.

The girls team finished with 130, beating GlenOak (121) and Massillon (76).

First-place finishers for the Cardinals were Gia Velasquez, 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard breaststroke; Adrianna Oddo, diving; and Mallory Allen, 100-yard butterfly. Second-place finishers were Hilary Allen, 200-yard free and 500-yard free; Olivia Williamson, 200-yard individual medley; Taylor Rodenbaugh 100-yard backstroke; and Ally Chiu, diving.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Rodenbaugh, Williamson, Velasquez and Mallory Allen took second place. along with the teams of Mallory Allen, Leslie Davis, Velasquez and Hilary Allen, 200-yard free relay; and Davis, Briana O’Malley, Williamson and Hilary Allen, 400-yard freestyle relay.

The boys team finished with 165 putting them ahead of GlenOak (100) and Massillon (55).

First-place finishers for the boys were Gavin Trebilcock, 500-yard free, 200-yard individual medley; Daniel Bogen, 200-yard free and 100-yard free; Ryan O’Malley, 50-yard free and 100-yard breaststroke; and Drew Wellham, 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard backstroke.

Second-place finishers were Nicky Motalto, 200-yard free 100-yard free; Calin Solomon, 200-yard individual medley; Mark Dalvin, 50-yard free; Adam Weiss, 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard backstroke; and Drew Bennett, 500-yard free.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Trebilcock, O’Malley, Wellham and Dalvin finished first, along with the teams of Montalto, Dalvin, O’Malley and Trebilcock, 200-yard free relay; and Bogen, Wellham, Montalto and Dalvin, 400-yard free relay.
