Man gets prison term for shooting that wounded girl

YOUNGSTOWN — One of the men who pleaded guilty in a drive-by shooting that left a 7-year-old child wounded will spend the next five years in prison.

Asa Bush, 22, Dearborn Avenue, appeared for sentencing today before Judge James C. Evans of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court. Bush had been indicted on four counts of felonious assault with gun specifications.

He entered into plea agreement with county prosecutors earlier this month and pleaded guilty to one count of felonious assault. The remaining three counts were dropped against him. He also pleaded guilty to a gun specification and obstructing justice in another case.

Judge Evans sentenced Bush to four years in prison on the obstructing official business charge to run concurrently with a three-year sentence for the felonious assault charge. He will also spend an additional year in prison for using a gun in the crime.
