Penn National outlining racetrack plans


Penn National Gaming is having a press conference right now at the offices of the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber of Commerce in Youngstown to outline its plans for bring a horse racetrack to Austintown.

Gaming company Penn National is ready to relocate horse racing tracks from Toledo and Columbus to the Youngstown and Dayton areas, respectively, if state officials will once and for all confirm the legality of offering lottery-run slots at the sites.

Representatives of the company outlined their plans earlier today to the Ohio State Racing Commission, the state board that oversees regulations of the tracks.

Battle lines are being drawn over Penn National’s plans to move the two horse tracks with other track owners planning to oppose any such move.
