The only defendant to go on trial in a federal investigation of county corruption in Cleveland has been sentenced to nine years and four months in prison.

Thomas Greco, a former executive at the county-owned MetroHealth Medical Center, was sentenced Wednesday in Cleveland federal court on his bribery and extortion conviction.

Prosecutors earlier suggested a sentence of up to 30 years but, based on a review of factors, said in court that about 15 years would be appropriate.
