3rd suspect arrested in YSU shooting

YOUNGSTOWN — Police and prosecutors are not releasing much information about the arrest of an 18-year-old South Side man arrested during the investigation into the shooting at a home used by Youngstown State University fraternity members.

Authorities have said Jamelle Jackson, 18, was arrested during searches of various homes in the city, but have not said what charges will be filed against him. Records at Mahoning County jail list Jackson as being arrested at 8:17 p.m. and held on carrying a concealed weapon charges.

Jackson was expected to appear today for arraignment via video before Judge Robert Douglas of Youngstown Municipal Court, but that hearing has been postponed until Friday.

Clerks in the city prosecutor’s office would neither deny nor confirm the charge and said they had been instructed to say only that “there is nothing more to add,” in the investigation.

Columbus Jones Jr. and Braylon Rogers face numerous felony charges, including aggravated murder, in the Sunday morning shooting in which YSU student Jamail Johnson 25, died.
