Ohio township trustee not guilty of perjury charge

CINCINNATI (AP) — A federal jury in Cincinnati has found a township official not guilty of lying under oath in the 2009 trial of a businessman convicted of misleading lenders to get millions of dollars in loans.

The jury today acquitted West Chester Township Trustee George Lang by finding him not guilty of perjury in Orlando Carter’s trial. Carter owned the former Dynus Corp. telecommunications company. Prosecutors said Carter misled banks about business deals involving Butler County in southwest Ohio.

Prosecutors accused Lang of lying when he testified that he didn’t know that a man he paid $100,000 for what the government alleged were kickbacks was a full-time Dynus employee.

Prosecutors say Lang worked as a lobbyist to help Dynus gain new business for a fiber-optics network with Butler County.
