Canfield girl prepares for Junior Miss program

A Canfield girl will represent the Youngstown area when the Ohio Junior Miss Scholarship Program takes place on Feb. 25-26 in Mount Vernon, Ohio.

Jillian Smith, a daughter of Ron and Nancy Smith, is a senior at Canfield High School.

Thirty-two Ohio high school seniors will arrive in Mount Vernon Feb. 19 in a motorcade through the downtown. The red carpet welcome is just the beginning of a week of rehearsals, luncheons with service organizations, and numerous speaking opportunities.

The program is getting a new name and image: Distinguished Young Women — Scholarship-Leadership-Talent.

The program will begin at 8 p.m. Feb. 25 and at 7 p.m. Feb. 26.

The 54th annual America’s Junior Miss National Finals will take place in Mobile, Ala., in June.
