What were your favorite Super Bowl commercials this year?

What were your favorite Super Bowl commercials this year? Verne Gay of Long Island Newsday has put together a list of his top five, based on entertainment value:

•Chrysler: The best for a few reasons, but starting with one — Eminem, shadowed by the hard-punching chords of “Lose Yourself,” and his insolent voice-over telling viewers “our story isn’t written in the papers ...” Ends with this winning tag: “Imported from Detroit.”

•Chevy Silverado: “I didn’t even know this town had a volcano. ...” “Where did he get a balloon?” “How did you get trapped in the belly of a whale ...” And a whale of an ad. Not one punch line, but five, and each one preceded by CGI minimasterpieces.

•Volkswagen: An elegant and just-about-perfect story of the kid with out-of-this-universe powers.

•Snickers: Why is Richard Lewis working at a lumber camp? Why is Roseanne? Absurdity piled on absurdity, and a punch line — in the form of a log — right in the gut.

•Bridgestone: What does a guy who frantically demolishes each and every piece of evidence of his wayward and potentially life- ruining e-mail have to do with tires? Not sure, and don’t really care. Here’s the punch line: He never hit the reply-all button as he’d feared.

“The Biggest Loser” (8 p.m., NBC): Oh, this is just wrong: The latest episode of “The Biggest Loser” features a temptation challenge that plops the contestants into a room full of decadent chocolate treats for Valentine’s Day. Now that’s just not right.

“Traffic Light” (9:30 P.M., FOX): “Traffic Light” is a new sitcom about three longtime buddies from college trying to balance their relationships with the need for freedom. Sounds like someone needs to man up.
