2 East High School students suspended after gun found in locker
YOUNGSTOWN — Two East High School students have been suspended after authorities found a loaded gun in a school locker.
One of those students, a 15-year-old boy, was charged with illegal conveyance or possession of a deadly weapon on school premises.
An assistant principal searched the student’s locker Monday morning after another student had been suspended for a fight last week. The principal found the loaded handgun in a coat.
A district spokeswoman said authorities don’t believe there was any intent to use the gun at school.
The principal notified police working at the school, who arrested the boy at home, taking him to the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center.
