Boardman police investigating assault on girl at the mall

BOARDMAN — Police said a 12-year-old girl was assaulted at the Southern Park Mall over the weekend.

The girl’s mother told police the 12-year-old was pulled to the ground and punched by a 14-year-old girl at the Market Street mall around 8 p.m. Saturday, according to reports.

Police said the 12-year-old girl had a cut on her inside lip and one of her fingernails was torn off. Detectives are investigating.
